This bag is my bestie, I used her every day backpacking Europe for 7 months. It fits a lot more than you think it will, with the exception of clothes ( i could fit my packable puffer jacket in it, but not really any other clothing items). You can fit a water bottle inside if you don't like the look of having your water outside. One thing to note is that it is definitely only water resistant, it will get soaked inside and out in the rain. I didn't notice anyone trying to get into it, so I can't really speak to its anti-theft qualities- then again, maybe it was able to ward off the thieves, lol
