Job Description:

We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Junior Industrial Product Designer to join our dynamic team. As a Junior Industrial Designer, you will work closely with senior designers and product managers to develop innovative product concepts and designs. Your primary responsibilities will include conceptualizing ideas, creating sketches and renderings, prototyping, and assisting in the development of final product designs.  To be successful in this role, you should have an eye for color and shape and be able to translate requirements into practical product features. Ultimately, you will help us build products that are innovative, easy to use, and visually appealing to our potential customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Generate product concepts and designs based on project requirements and user needs
  • Collaborate with product managers and senior designers to develop design solutions and carry out daily tasks
  • Identify opportunities for new products defined by the needs of the market and our clients - those needs are often communicated to the designers by the sales/marketing teams or from direct participation with clients
  • Analyze how a new product ties in with market needs and consumer preferences
  • Set design requirements based on briefs from internal teams and external partners
  • Conduct research on materials, construction techniques, manufacturing processes, and industry trends to support design decisions
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute creative ideas to enhance product design
  • Create sketches, renderings, and/or 3D models using CAD software
  • Create detailed product specs and work with the company’s own sample room to produce prototypes and test functionality
  • Support design iterations and improvements of existing products
  • Ensure designs meet aesthetic, functional, and manufacturing requirements
  • Prepare presentations and design documentation for internal reviews and client meetings
  • Gather feedback from product users by reading online reviews and reviewing factory defects and product returns
  • Organize product samples and digital assets
  • Support marketing teams with photo processing and editing as needed

Requirements and skills:

  • Experience in industrial design, ideally with some knowledge of cut and sew / soft goods
  • Creativity in mixing colors, shapes, styles and techniques
  • Ability to create sketches and renderings to communicate design concepts effectively
  • Hands-on experience with computer-aided design (CAD) tools
  • Experience with design programs (like Illustrator and Sketchbook)
  • Time-management and organizational skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Adaptability
  • Portfolio showcasing design projects and creative abilities

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, or a related field
  • Strong proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, Rhino, etc.) and Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)
  • Solid understanding of design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
